WELCOME TO COVENTRY MEMORIAL

Teamwork ~ Leadership ~ Commitment
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.

Commander's Corner

Commander Dr. Andrew J. Diomandes

To my fellow Comrades,

First and for most congratulations to this year’s Post Officers on your elections and appointments. I am honored to continue to serve as your Commander!

I wanted to take a minute and formally introduce myself to the members of the Coventry Memorial VFW Post 9404, my name is Dr. Andrew J. Diomandes. I served as a Fleet Marine Force (FMF) Hospital Corpsman from June 2007 to April 2015. During that time, I was stationed with 6th Marine Regiment out of Camp Lejeune and deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan with multiple different units. As a FMF Hospital Corpsman I was a jack of all trades and therefore volunteered to go back or extend to help my fellow brothers and sisters in their time of need. I have spent my whole life dedicated to the medical field helping our armed forces and Veterans. I currently work for the Department Veterans Affairs Providence Regional Office.

The slogan that I live by is that "time waits on no man, so no man should wait on time.”

This slogan comes from the Orthodox faith, and I have chosen to live by this slogan because time will continue to pass us all and there is nothing that can stop it. Time will continue on during the good or bad times we have in life. It is important to make the most of the time you have. So, I choose to be live my life to its fullest and welcome you all to join me.

This past year the Post has undergone a lot of changes with a lot of work still to be done. I look forward to this coming year as we push on continuing the traditions of the VFW and while embracing change to better support and help our fellow Comrades, families, and our community.

Sincerely,

Andrew J. Diomandes, DHSc
